United States, Scott #1044A, used(o), 1961, Liberty Series, The Statue of Liberty with the phrase “In God we Trust;” in 1954, the post office introduced the Liberty Definitive Series to replace the 1938 Presidential Series; it proved to be very popular series, honoring presidents, war heroes, statesmen, and stateswomen, as well as famous locations, Bunker Hill, the Alamo, and of course, The Statue of Liberty; which was issued in the original run of stamps in 1954 as an 8¢ stamp (Scott #1041B); towards the end of the series, a new postal rate of 11¢ was established for surface delivered foreign mail; and with a new definitive series in the planning, the post office quickly needed a new 11¢ stamp for the current series, so the ‘old dependable’ Statue of Liberty design was brought back in new colors for this stamp, and, although an admitted ‘rush to market’ stamp, it has found great favor among collectors for its vibrant colors in an otherwise somewhat drab and monotone series, flip through album pages for this period, and this stamp jumps out at you; 11 cents, engraved and Giori Press printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, perforated: 11, no phosphorus, carmine and dark violet blue, Scott 2019 Catalog Value: 25¢, slightly off-centered, which is typical for the issue, perforations clear stamp edges on all four sides, light, quarter-to-half circular, double-rimmed, black-inked, socked-on-the-nose corner cancel centered at the top right but extending over the top half of the stamp, however, the lightness of the cancel leaves the main image largely clear, sound back, this line perforated stamp leaves the top corner appear to have a clipped perforation, but it is not clipped, the missing perforation is the natural consequence of the line perforation process, all good perforations; image clear cancel warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive.
Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.55 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.68 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used. If not satisfied, return the stamp to me at your own expense, and I will refund the cost, but not my postage to you. If the stamp is not as described, I will refund the cost and reimburse you for postage both ways.
